‘Generations’ This peice was based around my childhood. Unlike most families, I was blessed to have my family / extended family living right next door to each other through four neighbouring houses. Between the four homes there where 28 ind…ividuals, Great Grandmothers, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins etc. The silver rings in the centre represent each member of my own family, my mother, father and my 6 sisters ‘the de Lacy’s. Their are another 4 coloured circles, slightly larger than others hidden in the background these represent my extended family, Granny’s, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and their individual homes. The other smaller circles represent the many children, grand children and great grandchildren born into the world all originating from the four neighbouring homes in Meadow Park, Dublin 14. The short bars between the canvas’s represent’s the closeness between each family. The Black background represents the sadness of the loss of family members, the bright colours are the meadows and the new life/lives that have been created.
